Frequently asked questions

Can a foreigner own 100% of a company in Oman?

Yes. Under Oman’s Foreign Capital Investment Law, foreign investors can own 100% of an LLC, a one-person company (SPC) or a branch in most commercial activities without a local Omani partner or sponsor. A few restricted sectors still require an Omani partner or special approval.

How long does it take to register a company in Oman?

A standard LLC or SPC can often be registered in a few working days once documents are ready: reserve the trade name, sign the articles of association, obtain the commercial registration and chamber membership. Timelines vary by activity, approvals and whether documents need embassy attestation.

Is there personal income tax in Oman?

No. Oman has no personal income tax. Companies on the mainland pay a flat 15% corporate tax on profits, while free zones such as Sohar, Duqm and Salalah can offer corporate tax holidays of up to 30 years under their own rules.
